How to connect and set up multiple routers

Many friends, in order to expand the coverage of wireless signal, will add a wireless router. For example, if the signal is bad in some places at home, add a WiFi; a rental house, the landlord's network cable is connected to the router he bought; the neighbor's broadband and his own sharing use, etc.

The following is explained by network cable connection. There are only two ways to connect:

Either WAN port or LAN port.

When inserting WAN port. That is to say, the network cable from the LAN port of the main router (or superior router) is plugged into the WAN port of the secondary router, and the DHCP service of the LAN port is to be started.

When the LAN port is plugged in, i.e. the network cable from the LAN port of the main router (or superior router) is plugged into the LAN port of the secondary router, and the DHCP service of the LAN port will be shut down.

Simply put, if you plug in WAN port, DHCP will turn on; if you plug in LAN port, DHCP will turn off.

In addition, be clear: routers have Wan and LAN ports, and their IP addresses cannot be in the same IP segment. For example, if WAN port is 192.168.1.3, then LAN port cannot be set to 192.168.1. X, only 192.168.2. X or other. Therefore, before connecting the two routers, it is necessary to know the IP address of the LAN port of the main router (superior router), and then set the IP address of the LAN port of the secondary router according to the actual situation.

As shown in the figure above: if the IP of the main router is 192.168.0.1, when the sub router wants to plug in the WAN port, the IP of the sub router is set to 192.168.1.1, or 192.168. X.1 (x is other number). DHCP is enabled.

When the secondary router is plugged into the LAN port, the IP of the secondary router is set to 192.168.0.2, or 192.168.0. X (x is another number) DHCP switch. (IP is set to facilitate the management of sub routes) as shown in the following figure:

As shown in the figure above: if the IP of the main router is 192.168.0.1, when the sub router wants to plug in the WAN port, the IP of the sub router is set to 192.168.1.1, or 192.168. X.1 (x is other number). DHCP is enabled.

When the secondary router is plugged into the LAN port, the IP of the secondary router is set to 192.168.0.2, or 192.168.0. X (x is another number) DHCP switch. (IP is set to facilitate the management of sub routes) as shown in the following figure:
